We think you should know exactly how a site that recommends pet insurance pays its bills. This page explains it in plain language - and how we keep that money from shaping what we tell you.

The short version

  • WhiskerCover is free to read and reader-supported.
  • We earn a commission or referral fee when readers use some of our links to get a quote or buy a policy.
  • This never increases the price you pay - it's the same as going to the insurer directly.
  • That compensation does not influence our rankings, ratings, or recommendations (see our editorial policy).
  • We do not sell your personal information.

What "reader-supported" means

There's no paywall and no charge to read WhiskerCover. Instead of charging you, we're funded by partnerships with the companies we write about. That model only works if you can trust what we publish - so the rest of this page is about the guardrails that keep it trustworthy.

How our links work

Some links on the Site are affiliate links. When you click one and then get a quote or purchase a policy, the partner may pay us a commission or referral fee for sending you their way.

Two things that are always true:

  • Your price is identical whether you use our link or go to the insurer directly. Affiliate compensation comes out of the company's marketing budget, not your premium.
  • Affiliate links are marked as such in the page's code (with a rel="sponsored" attribute), and every article carries an advertiser-disclosure note at the top.

We are a licensed insurance agency

WhiskerCover LLC is a Florida-licensed insurance agency (License # L134842), and our founder, Alex Dantsev, is a Florida-licensed General Lines Insurance Agent (License # G301587). In some cases that means we may help place coverage as a licensed agent and be compensated through standard insurance commissions. Where that applies, we disclose it - and the same independence rules below still hold.

Who we partner with

Our partners are pet insurance companies and pet-related products or services. We only feature providers we believe offer genuine value to pet owners, and being a partner does not guarantee a company a place in our recommendations.

How we keep money separate from our recommendations

This is the part that matters most. Compensation can never buy a better outcome on WhiskerCover:

  • A commission cannot buy a higher ranking, a better rating, or favorable coverage.
  • We publish the drawbacks - exclusions, waiting periods, renewal price hikes, weak claim experiences - even for companies we earn money from.
  • When a cheaper plan, a different company, or no insurance at all is the better call for a reader, we say so.

What we never do

  • We never sell or rent your personal information.
  • We never let an advertiser review, approve, or edit our content before it's published.
  • We never hide that a link is an affiliate link, or charge you more for using one.
